Home Builders

Home builders is a group started at our church by one of the mothers...I think it was Kelly, and so for a lack of knowing for sure, I will say it was her (mom in the picture below). She organizes one date night and one outing a month. Date night is really an igenious (pretty sure I spelled that wrong) thing. Two sets of parents are assigned baby sitting duty at the church while all of the other parents can drop off their kids between 5 and 8pm, for example, and go on a date. It's a great way to get out, and you are always assured a turn, as the sitters and daters are always switched around.

This month we went sledding at Old Powder Horn. The sun was out, but it was way toooo windy, so everyone was bundled up...including, one of Kelly's two daughters, Ava. I thought this picture was sooo cute. She wasn't as interested in sledding as she was in eating the snow. She's probably six months older then Aloria and seems to like her better then Aloria gets along with her. Aloria still acts a little timid around other toddlers who are not Caleb, haha. I'm hoping to set up a play date with Kelly so that Aloria can expand her circle of friends :-)

Ava feeding Aloria after sledding, as all the kids huddled in the back of the mini van to escape the wind.

The Homebuilders has really ment a lot to's been one of the only outlets for me, in terms of adult interaction, but there is a "but..." Aaron and I are the second to the youngest couple participating, and although I get along with all the other moms and am closer to some then others...I still have yet to find the same comraderee that comes from years of friendship and shared experiences. I know that takes time, but sometimes I still get those "lonely in the midst of a crowd" type feelings. It feels as though those relationships were left behind in Portland with all of you, and with our decision to stay in CO, my heart aches even more for what I haven't found here. Just one more of those things I get to cast at the feet of the Lord...He's answered my calls for friendship before. I will ask again :-) Please keep me in prayer about all have meant so much more to me then you will ever know, and I regret no longer being able to participate in your lives. ...but in my heart and mind's eye, I visit you often.

that sounds like such a great idea! i have never heard of that.
i will be praying for you, i definitely feel the same and have been pleading with God to send me a friend or two that i can connect with, i feel so alone.
we had jenny (went to japan with justin) and her husband over for dinner the other night and that was fun, but the kids are so demanding that i barely was in the conversations, so we definitely need to have friends out of the house, ya know. justins parents are awesome at watching our kids and that is nice to have here just starting out!
