Days #3 & 4

I think it was Monday evening that Aaron layed down the stain...it was really fun to watch the transformation! ...and although, there are problem areas that still show up...such as this...because of all the wood filler that we had to use, over all it looks like...

...this! Ta da!
Turns out the smell of wood stain is really really strong! ...we were able to stay in our room that night because the smell had sort of stayed out of that end of the house, but as soon as we opened the bedroom door, it was clear we had to get Aloria (and me, for that matter, somewhere else. We called Marlene and Aaron took Aloria over there first thing after breakfast. We slept there Tuesday night (lastnight), while Aaron went back to the house to put on the clear top coat. The end of something can be so exciting...if only it were actually the end. Turns out we need to lay down three coats of the top coat and each coat has to dry for 4-6 hours. So, we are here right now, while Aloria is napping at Marlene's. Aaron is getting ready to lay down the second coat (hoping to come back tonight to lay down the third coat), only it takes a fairly lengthy amount of time because you are supposed to sand over the floor inbetween each coat (in case of bubbles)....and then, we can't put any furnature down on the floor for 36 hours after the last coat to let it get really hard. 36 hrs!!! At least once the smell is significanly gone we can come back home, and just shut Aloria's door for three days so that she doesn't go in there. ...buuuut, keep in mind we have not finished...ahhh finishing...the living room floor. We can't exactly avoid the living room since it is in the middle of the house. We'll have to move out for like three to six days depending on how long it takes to stain and lay down the top coats for that one, due to smell, plus waiting time. Oh my gosh!!! This project all of a sudden seems such a monumental task! haha, oh well...it will look amazing in the end and it will all be worth it. And anyway, it is much better that we started it now then after Justus is born...that would be crazy!
